Parents' Appreciation
"My son Matthew was banded just before he was 5 months old. He is now 10 months and almost done with his 2nd band. We
opted for the 2nd band even though it was not necessary. We are very glad we did and Matthew looks great. We, like
everyone else, had our ups and downs with the process. All the support and care we got was wonderful.
The thing that makes me the most grateful right now is the "extras" we got from our techs, Lisa and Michelle, at the
Charlotte office. We took Matthew for a PT eval. yesterday and found out he is somewhat delayed in that area. The PT
told us that all the exercises we did with him (via Lisa and Michelle) have helped him. We are so grateful Lisa and
Michelle went beyond just adjusting Matthew's helmet.
The people we all see at CT are only in our lives for a short time and, yet, they make such a difference in our children's
and our lives! We will never forget them and what they have done to help our little boy live a better life! Thank you!

"My son, Andres Chavez, now 26 months old,
wore two DOC Bands over the period of 8 months. He received the first DOC Band at 13 and graduated at 21 months, with good
results for his age. However, prior to wearing his first DOC Band, he was the victim of two ill-fitting helmets in LA
(non-DOC Bands), which made his head shape worse. Sadly, throughout the course of the fist treatment, the people in charge
could not find a resolution for the endless fit issues, one of which was caused by the long lapse of time between scanning and
fitting the helmet when he was only 8.5 months old. When the shape of my son's skull resembled the ill-fitting helmets, I stopped
the treatment and my son left that facility with a worse head shape than at the start.
In December 2005, after much research and medical opinions, we found a more experienced cranial remolding clinic - in San
Diego. My husband and I took Andres for a consultation with Angela Kaiser, the DOC Band clinician. Tears come to my eyes
just remembering the fist time I saw the office. It was bright and cheery and, most importantly, I saw other banded babies.
Finally, I knew we were in the right place.
Ms. Kaiser told us there was hope for Andres, despite the additional deformities caused by the helmets and the late start
of treatment, at 13 months. Her staff helped with the detailed documents for the pediatrician and insurance company. At
first our insurance denied DOC Band coverage. I wrote a 30-page appeal, with documents, articles, pictures and medical
journals. They all supported DOC Band and its effectiveness. I focused on the fact that Cranial Technologies is the only
facility that successfully bands babies up to 2 years and beyond. Three weeks later, my insurance approved the treatment.
When my son received the band one week later, I couldn't believe the difference from the ill-fitting LA helmet experience.
Over the course of the next 8 months (and 2 DOC Bands) I made a 6-hour round-trip commute every 3 weeks.
Our clinician, Ms. Kaiser was pleasant and patient. She answered all my questions and, most importantly, she had a great
rapport with my toddler son. I looked forward to my son's adjustment visits. It was reassuring to compare Andres' head
mold to his actual growing/correcting head shape. The office staff was ALWAYS accommodating to our needs, we were never
rushed, the parent area was great, it even had a microwave and the bathrooms were clean and stocked with baby necessities.
On our final visit I fought back my tears of appreciation for Cranial Technologies. My son won't remember his DOC Band
experience, but I always will and I am sincerely grateful for all that your company has done for my family and continues to
do for others."
Thank you,
Hazel, Jose and Andres Chavez (Southern California)

"Jeanne,
I really don't know how to begin to thank you for everything CranialTech (Angela and Leslie in Annandale especially)
have done for our baby. I could talk facts and how much research I did on plagio trying to seek treatment for Dominick, but
I think it is more important for you to hear how you have affected our lives.
...We saw the plagio at two months and tried repo, but that didn't work. We bought every kind of wedge to keep him in a good
position, he would move right back. By four months he was unable to turn his head in the normal ROM and kept it turned to one
side, he stopped rolling in one direction and his legs seemed weak. That's when we found CranialTech and the Yahoo support
group.
I had to educate our pediatrician on the subject. I copied everything from the CranialTech website and brought it to her
prepared for a fight, but was pleasantly surprised when she was open to learning and used the assessment charts to judge his
severity. She wrote us our script that day.
...Dominick got his band the day he turned 5 months old. Within two weeks of having his band and learning he had a round
head to work with, he was rolling both directions. The PT almost fell over when she saw him...Everytime she came he amazed
her with his progress. She said he was her first baby with a band and that she was really seeing first hand how beneficial
they could be.
...So you see I have to thank you for giving me back my baby, not just with a rounder head, but a chance at a normal life.
Some moms might be upset at the fact that the baby has spent the better part of his first year of life in a band, but I see
it as a blessing.
...There are no words I could possibly say to thank you, but I want you to know that I thank God every day that he put people
in the world like you. People who make a difference and my Dominick walking around in his little playpen may not seem like
much, but it's a miracle to me. Thank you Jeanne, thank you for giving my baby a chance."
Carol Gatto, mother of Dominick (Annandale, VA)

"A big thank you to everyone for all of your work. Our son Radley got his 1st band at 12 months and we have seen a huge
improvement. He is now 18 months and ending his 2nd band. He is as happy as he could be wearing a band. The work you
all do helps these kids have a better chance in the future. How amazing your product is. Thank you.
Carrie del Alamo (Woodlands, TX)

"...I have really appreciated CranialTech's response to our concerns...We had our son in a helmet before his DOC Band, and when
concerns arose with that - concerns that showed his head flatter and higher in the "after" pictures than the "before" pictures -
our ortho disagreed with us, and would not reshape his helmet. He staunchly refused to agree, even with the before and after
pictures in front of him.
So we went to CranialTech, and I have definitely not been the easiest customer they've ever had, as
my paranoia levels after that first helmet were sky high - but I really feel they listen and care.
There is a statement on their website under "About Our Company" and "How We Are Different", where it says "We hold ourselves
accountable for the outcomes achieved in every child", and I have really seen them live up to that...Our clinicians have been
so willing to talk whenever, even if I just needed to hyperventilate over the phone!
Carrie Miller, mother of Gabriel (Annandale, VA)

"My son Oscar received treatment in the DOC Band clinic operated by Dr. Joan Pinyot and Maria Garriga. Words cannot
express my gratitude and appreciation for the kindness and care that Oscar received from these dedicated medical
professionals. And I know that they give the same attention to all their little patients.
The parents in Spain are very grateful to Jeanne Pomatto and Cranial Technologies for making the DOC Band available in
Europe and for selecting Dr. Pinyot and his well trained medical staff to provide plagiocephaly treatment for our
children.
The ability to correct our children's heads without surgery is beyond value. We offer our grateful thanks to Cranial
Technologies for the research that made this treatment possible. Without it, many of our children would have faced the
life-threatening possibility of surgery."
