The DOC Band is the only custom cranial helmet supported by nearly 35 years of documented outcomes. It’s been used to safely and successfully treat approximately 175,000 babies with plagiocephaly. Our years of effective treatment and successful outcomes are demonstrated by these successful cases:
What Results Might I Expect From The DOC Band?
While the DOC Band has proven results, every baby’s case is unique. There are a few key factors to keep in mind while you advance through treatment: your baby’s age, the severity of her or his condition, and the consistency with which you follow the recommended treatment regimen. All of these factors will impact the final outcome.
Research has shown that beginning treatment at an optimal age of 4 to 6 months produces faster results and a better overall outcome.
- In children under five months old, changes can be seen within the first week of wearing the band 23 hours a day.
- In children under 12 months old, changes can be seen within the first two weeks of treatment.
- In children over 12 months old, changes can be seen within the first 2 to 3 weeks of treatment.
As with any condition, the more severe the form of plagiocephaly, the more complex it will be to correct. For this reason, it’s especially important that babies with severe plagiocephaly begin treatment as early as possible.
The DOC Band should be worn 23 hours a day. Growth adjustments should be made regularly by a clinician. If needed, your baby’s neck muscles should be stretched and exercised daily. Everyone who cares for your baby should understand the requirements to achieve the best possible outcome.
