About Cranial Technologies

Cranial Technologies is a leading provider of helmet therapy for plagiocephaly treatment in infants and has helped reshape the lives of over 300,000 children since 1986.

In 1998, Dynamic Orthotic Cranioplasty™, known as the DOC Band, became the first cranial helmet cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for plagiocephaly treatment. and, a few years later, for plagiocephaly treatment associated with post-surgical correction. Today, the DOC Band is the only device supported by clinical studies and over 35 years of documented outcomes.

Today, it's estimated that nearly 1 in 2 infants have some degree of plagiocephaly¹ (flat head syndrome). The condition is usually caused by prolonged pressure to the head from back-sleeping and restrictive devices (strollers, smart sleepers, etc). Flat spots can also be caused by natural factors like limited space in utero from multiple births (twins) or premature babies that spend time in NICU.

The DOC Band gently corrects your baby's head shape overtime by applying custom holding pressures to areas of the head without flatness. This actively redirects head growth and allows parts of the head with flatness to fill out, resulting in a desired symmetrical head shape.

Infant Head Shape Assessments using Digital Surface Imaging (DSi)^® Technology

Developed and used solely through Cranial Technologies, DSi technology uses 10 high-resolution cameras to produce 3d renderings to show deformities in the head shape, including those not visible to the naked eye. DSi also assists in the creation of each individualized DOC Band, which provides a custom fit that helps reduce treatment time and improve outcomes.
